Developing a Strategic Mindset in an Operationally-Focused Board
Strategic Planning Success Story![](https://leadingassociations.com//wp-content/uploads/2016/06/strategic-success-1-FINAL.jpg)
The Client
A national organization in higher education facility management.
The Challenge
This group did not have a strategic culture; they were very operationally focused. The board of directors was micromanaging day-to-day details and not focusing on the long-term direction of the organization.
The Solution
One of our skills is up-front leadership training to create that strategic mind-set. We start by defining the roles and responsibilities of the board and the staff; then we can do the work of strategic planning. Often, as with this group, we follow up by overseeing the implementation of the plan and come back on a regular basis to keep everything on track as part of a holistic approach.
